Rights and Responsibilities
What Are Rights?
A right is something every person is allowed to have or do.
Rights protect you from unfair treatment.
Examples include the right to speak your mind, to learn at school, and to be safe at home.
When a right is respected, you can grow, share ideas, and feel valued.
What Are Responsibilities?
A responsibility is a duty you owe to yourself, others, or your community.
Responsibilities help keep rights safe for everyone.
You might be responsible for doing your homework, cleaning up after yourself, or listening to rules.
Doing your part shows respect for the rights of others.
How Rights and Responsibilities Work Together
Rights and responsibilities are two sides of the same coin.
If you use your right to speak, you also have the responsibility to speak kindly.
When you enjoy the right to play in a park, you must also keep the park clean.
Balancing both makes life fair and fun for everyone.
Being a Good Citizen
A good citizen knows their rights and follows their responsibilities.
Ask questions when youβre unsure about a rule.
Help friends who need a hand, and speak up if you see something unfair.
Remember: strong communities are built when each person respects both rights and responsibilities.
