Ecology

What Is Ecology?

Ecology is the study of how living things interact with each other and with their environment. Every plant, animal, and micro‑organism plays a part in a web of relationships. These relationships include who eats whom, how plants get water, and how waste is broken down. By looking at these connections, scientists learn how ecosystems stay healthy or become unbalanced.

Why It Matters

Healthy ecosystems provide clean air, fresh water, and food for people. They also protect us from natural disasters by stabilising soil and absorbing carbon dioxide. When an ecosystem is damaged, the balance breaks and problems like pollution or species loss appear. Understanding ecology helps us predict these changes and find ways to fix them.

How You Can Help

You can protect local habitats by planting native trees and flowers. Reduce waste by recycling, composting food scraps, and using reusable containers. Save energy at home—turn off lights and choose public transport or biking when possible. Join school projects that monitor water quality or clean up parks. Small actions add up to a healthier planet.

How Volcanoes Form

From Magma to Mountain

Volcanoes grow where tectonic plates collide or drift apart. Heat melts rock into light, buoyant magma that rises, cools, and hardens near the surface, building the cone layer by layer.
