Directions
What Are Directions?
Directions tell us how to move from one place to another. We use words like “go,” “turn,” and “stop.” Knowing directions helps us find our way at home, school, or the park.
The Four Main Directions
- North – up on most maps.
- South – down on most maps.
- East – right on most maps.
- West – left on most maps.
You can remember them with the phrase “Never Eat Worms” (North, East, West, South) or by pointing your fingers like a compass.
Using Directions in Daily Life
- Ask For Help – “Can you show me the way to the library?”
- Follow A Map – Look at the picture, find the north arrow, then move toward the place you need.
- Give Simple Steps – “Walk two steps forward, then turn right.”
Practice using directions with friends or family. Soon you’ll feel confident exploring new places!
