What Was Egypt?

A long, long time ago, there was a place called Egypt. It was near a big river called the Nile. The river gave water, food, and helped people grow plants.

People and Homes

People in Egypt lived in houses made of mud bricks. They wore simple clothes and liked to make beautiful jewelry. Families ate bread, fish, and fruit. Children played games and helped their families.

Pyramids

The Egyptians built huge stone triangles called pyramids. They were made for the kings, called pharaohs, to rest after they died. Workers used big stones and lots of teamwork to build them.
