Castles

What Is a Castle?

A castle is a big stone house. It has tall walls and a strong roof. People built castles a long, long time ago.

Who Lived in a Castle?

Kings, queens, princes, and princesses lived in castles. Knights wore shiny armor and helped protect the castle. The castle was also a home for cooks, cleaners, and babies.

What Did a Castle Do?

A castle kept people safe. The thick walls stopped enemies from getting inside. When the sky was dark, the castle lit big fires to stay warm. Inside, there were big rooms for eating, sleeping, and playing games.

How Does a Castle Look?

A castle has tall towers that reach the clouds. The towers have round windows called β€œarrow slits.” A big gate opens and closes like a giant door. Some castles have a bridge that can be lifted up to stop visitors. The stone walls feel cool and strong.

Castles are like giant forts that tell us stories about brave people and old times.

Volcanoes grow where tectonic plates collide or drift apart. Heat melts rock into light, buoyant magma that rises, cools, and hardens near the surface, building the cone layer by layer.
