Strings

A string makes sound when you pull or pluck it.
A violin is small and you hold it on your shoulder.
A guitar has a big body and you strum it with your fingers.

Woodwinds

A woodwind has a hole you blow into.
A flute is thin and you blow across the top.
A clarinet is longer and you press buttons while you blow.

Brass

A brass instrument is shiny and you buzz your lips on it.
A trumpet is small and you press three buttons.
A trombone slides back and forth to change notes.

Percussion

Percussion makes noise when you hit it.
A drum is a round skin you tap with sticks.
A xylophone has wooden bars you strike with a mallet.
