Musical Patterns

What Is a Pattern?

A pattern is something that repeats the same way.
In music, a pattern can be a beat, a melody, or a rhythm that you hear over and over.

Clap and Count

  1. Clap Clap – Pause – Clap – Pause.
  2. Count “1, 2, 3, 4” while you clap.
  3. Keep the same order. You just made a musical pattern!

Make Your Own

Pick any three sounds: a drum beat, a whistle, or a snap.
Play them in the order Beat – Whistle – Snap.
Repeat the order many times.
Now you have created your own pattern that friends can hear and join.

Patterns help music sound nice and easy to follow. Try finding patterns in songs you love!

How Volcanoes Form

From Magma to Mountain

Volcanoes grow where tectonic plates collide or drift apart. Heat melts rock into light, buoyant magma that rises, cools, and hardens near the surface, building the cone layer by layer.
