Rivers

What Is a River?

A river is a long, moving stream of water. It starts high up in the hills and flows down to a lake or the sea. Rivers can be wide or narrow, but the water always keeps moving.

Who Lives in a River?

Fish swim in the water. Frogs hop on the banks. Dragonflies buzz above the surface. Plants grow on the sides and in the water. All of them need clean water to stay healthy.

Why Rivers Matter

Rivers give us fresh water to drink. They help plants grow and give food to animals. People can travel on rivers or have fun playing near them. Keeping rivers clean helps the whole Earth.
