Magnets

What Is a Magnet?

A magnet is a special piece of metal.
It has an invisible force called Magnetism.
Magnetism can pull certain metals toward the magnet.
Every magnet has two ends: a North pole and a South pole.

What Magnets Can Do

  • They stick to the fridge, the door, and other metal things.
  • They can pull a paperclip, a nail, or a screw toward them.
  • When two magnets are close, they can push each other apart if the same poles meet.

Safe Magnet Play

  • Never put a magnet in your mouth.
  • Keep magnets away from phones, computers, and credit cards.
  • Wash your hands after playing with magnets.
  • Ask a grown‑up if you are not sure how to use a magnet.

How Volcanoes Form

From Magma to Mountain

Volcanoes grow where tectonic plates collide or drift apart. Heat melts rock into light, buoyant magma that rises, cools, and hardens near the surface, building the cone layer by layer.
