Illustration for Materials

Materials

What Are Materials?

Materials are things we can touch.
They make up toys, clothes, and houses.
We can feel them with our hands.

Types of Materials

  • Wood – comes from trees. It is strong and can be cut.
  • Metal – shiny and hard. It can hold heavy things.
  • Plastic – light and can be many colors.
  • Fabric – soft and used for clothes.

How We Use Materials

We pick the right material for each job.
A chair is often made of wood.
A spoon can be metal.
A ball might be plastic.
A shirt is fabric.
Using the right material helps things work well.

Learning about materials helps us see the world.
