Day and Night Cycle

What Are Day and Night?

The Sun shines on Earth. When the Sun’s light reaches us, it is daytime. We can see the sky is bright and feel warm. At night, the Earth turns away from the Sun, and it gets dark. We can see stars in the sky.

Why Do We Have Day and Night?

Earth spins around like a top. It takes 24 hours to spin around once. As Earth turns, different places move into the Sun’s light and then out of it. This makes day and night happen.

Let’s Review

Day happens when the Sun’s light reaches us. Night happens when the Sun’s light does not reach us. Earth spinning around makes day and night change.
