Soccer Basics

The Field

A soccer field is a big green rectangle. At each short end is a goal with a net. White lines show where players can run and where the ball is out of play.

The Ball

The ball is round and covered in leather or synthetic material. Players kick it with their feet. Only the goalkeeper may use hands, and only inside the goal area.

How to Play

Two teams of players try to kick the ball into the other team’s net. When the ball goes into the net, it is a goal. The team with the most goals at the end wins. Players pass the ball to teammates, dribble by keeping the ball close, and try to shoot toward the goal. Remember to share, cheer for friends, and have fun!
