📚 What Is a Paragraph?

A paragraph is a little group of sentences that talk about one idea. Think of it as a tiny story inside a bigger story. When you write, paragraphs help your reader understand what you’re saying.

1. One Idea, One Paragraph

Just like a single LEGO brick makes a small part of a tower, a paragraph holds one main thought.
Example: “I love rainy days.” All the sentences that follow should be about rainy days.

2. How a Paragraph Looks

  • First Sentence – tells the main idea (the “topic sentence”).
  • Middle Sentences – give details, like pictures in your mind.
  • Last Sentence – wraps it up (the “closing sentence”).

It’s like a sandwich: bread‑bread‑filling‑bread.

3. Why Paragraphs Matter

Paragraphs give your writing a clean, easy‑to‑read shape. They let readers pause, think, and enjoy each part before moving to the next. Without paragraphs, writing would look like a long, tangled string.

4. Using Your Imagination

Imagine a paragraph as a tiny garden. The first sentence plants a seed, the middle sentences water and feed it, and the last sentence lets the flower bloom. Grow many gardens in one story!

Did You Know? 🤔

The word “paragraph” comes from Greek: Para (beside) + Graph (writing). It means “writing beside each other,” just like sentences sit side by side in a paragraph.

Now you know how to build a paragraph—one idea, a beginning, a middle, and an end. Grab a pencil, pick a topic you love, and start planting your paragraph gardens. Keep writing and watch your ideas blossom! 🌱

How Volcanoes Form

From Magma to Mountain

Volcanoes grow where tectonic plates collide or drift apart. Heat melts rock into light, buoyant magma that rises, cools, and hardens near the surface, building the cone layer by layer.
