Hydraulics

What Is Hydraulics?

Hydraulics is a way to move things using liquid. When you push on a fluid, the pressure travels through the liquid and can lift or push heavy objects. Engineers use this idea to build machines that are strong and smooth.

How It Works

  1. A Sealed Tube holds the liquid, usually oil or water.
  2. A Small Piston pushes on the liquid.
  3. The pressure spreads evenly, so a Bigger Piston can lift a heavier load.
The force you apply is multiplied, which means a little push can move a big weight.

Everyday Examples

  • Excavators and Bulldozers use hydraulic arms to dig and lift earth.
  • Car Brakes use fluid to stop the wheels quickly.
  • Hydraulic Lifts in garages raise cars so mechanics can work underneath.

Hydraulics helps us do hard jobs with gentle pushes, making work easier and safer.

How Volcanoes Form

From Magma to Mountain

Volcanoes grow where tectonic plates collide or drift apart. Heat melts rock into light, buoyant magma that rises, cools, and hardens near the surface, building the cone layer by layer.
