Time and Calendars

Clocks Tell the Hour

A clock has two hands. The short hand shows the hour. The long hand shows the minutes. When the short hand points to 3, we say β€œthree o’clock.”

Days and Nights

The Earth spins once every day. When the Sun is up, it is daytime. When the Sun goes down, it is nighttime. We have one day in a week.

Weeks and Months

A week has seven days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Four weeks make about a month. A year has twelve months.

Why We Use Calendars

Calendars help us know when birthdays, holidays, and school start. They show the days, weeks, and months in order. By looking at a calendar, we can plan fun activities and know when to celebrate.
