Hydraulics
What Is Hydraulics?
Hydraulics is a way to move things using liquid. When you push on a fluid, the pressure travels through the liquid and can lift or push heavy objects. Engineers use this idea to build machines that are strong and smooth.
How It Works
- A Sealed Tube holds the liquid, usually oil or water.
- A Small Piston pushes on the liquid.
- The pressure spreads evenly, so a Bigger Piston can lift a heavier load.
The force you apply is multiplied, which means a little push can move a big weight.
Everyday Examples
- Excavators and Bulldozers use hydraulic arms to dig and lift earth.
- Car Brakes use fluid to stop the wheels quickly.
- Hydraulic Lifts in garages raise cars so mechanics can work underneath.
Hydraulics helps us do hard jobs with gentle pushes, making work easier and safer.
